FDMA stands for Frequency Division Multiple Access. In this technology each earth station is assigned one carrier with a small guard band so that interference between adjacent carriers can be avoided. It is based upon division of frequency band over 30 channels. All carriers are received by satellite transponder and retransmitted back to earth. This technology is for Advanced Mobile Phone Services.
